Where the path home begins

THE COMMONS ON 16TH

The Commons on 16th transforms CRST’s former Driver Training Facility into 65 units, providing a bridge for our neighbors between homelessness and permanent housing.

“When I learned that more than 60 of our neighbors were living unsheltered every night, I realized we had an opportunity to do more than watch – we could act. What was once a Training Center has the potential to become a place where people rebuild their lives. We believe our building can be part of the solution.”

The Commons on 16th is more than just giving individuals a place to live. It’s a place where they can feel safe and supported by getting connected with a Case Manager, who will help residents meet daily living needs, access services and benefits they qualify for, and work toward long-term housing stability. At The Commons on 16th, residents will have access to:

A private, furnished room
24-hour access to the building with own key fob
Heat, electricity, water, trash, and WiFi
Free laundry
Shared dining hall, freezer, fridge, and microwave
Conference room and an outdoor smoking patio

But, more than living space, The Commons on 16th tenants will be able to access support services within the facility. These wraparound services are critical in helping individuals rebuild their lives and get started on a stable path forward. Services available for residents at The Commons on 16th include housing, healthcare, behavioral health, crisis counseling, recovery, jobs skills and much more.

SUPPORTING SERVICE ORGANIZATIONS

“The Commons on 16th will be a game changer for our community. This innovative housing model will provide more than a shelter; it will bring together multiple agencies under one roof, working collaboratively with a unified vision to address healthcare, behavioral health, recovery, and other critical needs of unhoused residents in Linn County. While we recognize this approach may not meet the needs of every individual or address every circumstance, it has the potential to help a significant portion of our unhoused population achieve stable, permanent housing and improve their overall health, well-being, and quality of life.”
Heather Meador, Linn County Public Health Clinical Branch & Epidemiology Division Manager

At its core, The Commons on 16th is committed to addressing homelessness in Linn County. Individuals who are in need of housing must go through Waypoint’s Coordinated Entry System, which will verify eligibility, assess housing needs, and coordinate placement, as vacancies become available. Waypoint’s Coordinated Entry Team will also explore additional shelter and housing options for individuals in need.
